In an effort to bolster our position as an industry thought leader, Information Systems Integration (ISI) participated in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework Symposium. Located in Gaithersburg, Maryland, NIST has been tasked by Executive Order 13636 to develop a voluntary framework for reducing the risks associated with hacking and other forms of cyber-related crime.
The workshop was held to seek public review of NIST’s current work and to receive input from stakeholders from various IT related industries and professionals around the nation. Numerous Fortune 500 corporations and cybersecurity experts were on hand to participate in the multiday event.
ISI’s own Chief Operating Officer, Michael B. King, also participated in the workshop in an effort to further prepare our firm to meet the cybersecurity challenges of 2016 and beyond. Mr. King shared in breakout sessions related to research and development, cyber insurance standards, state and local framework implementation and cybersecurity challenges and consequences for 2016.
“As a result of ISI’s participation in this workshop, our firm finds ourselves better prepared to assist our clients in the government relations space in defending and securing their data networks. As digital crime looms large on the horizon for all firms, the lobbying sector is especially susceptible to hacking, malware and other digital invasions because of their work with member of Congress,” states Michael B. King with Information Systems Integration.
ISI stands ready to lead the way and assist lobby firms in Washington DC and around the nation in implementing beneficial portions of the NIST cybersecurity framework for its clients. Truly, the future of advocacy and lobby related work will depend on the security, reliability and functionality of the critical IT infrastructure of government affairs firms as they position themselves for a digital transformation.
